Countdown to October 2021

October 2021 marks the 50thbirthday for the Place where Magic Lives, Walt Disney World. And in anticipation of the anniversary, Disney is pulling out all the stops with new rides, new experiences, and even new lands! So join us as we give you a quick countdown to what you’ll find in October 2021, and the months leading up to Walt Disney World’s 50thbirthday!

The Splitting of Future World

In our last post we mentioned the closing and overhaul of Future World in Epcot, and next month we will be doing a more in depth coverage of the changes coming to the park as a whole. But for now lets give you a brief overview of what you can expect when the updates wrap up in time for the birthday.

World Celebration

World Celebration is the first land, or ‘neighborhood’ you will enter into when you visit the park. It takes up the center of the land formerly known as Future World with Spaceship Earth at one end, and the brand new Festival Pavilion at the other end. The pavilion will be the central hub of each of the yearly festivals held in the park including Food and Wine, the International Flower and Garden Festival, the Festival of the Arts and the holiday events. The pavilion plans to offer rooftop gardens, specialty shops and exclusive firework viewing areas for HarmoniUs.

Space Ship earth will be the centerpiece of this land, with an overhauled show complete with updated narration coming our way soon! And Journey into the Imagination is located (mostly) in World Celebration as well.

World Nature

World Nature is the second neighborhood. It will be comprised of the Seas pavilion, the Land pavilion and a brand new experience called the Journey of Water inspired by the movie Moana. The Land Pavilion will feature a new film called ‘Awesome Planet’ complete with immersive effects and gorgeous cinematography,

World Discovery

World Discovery is the neighborhood where you can head out of this world with awesome inventions, a trip to Mars and even hang out with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Epcot’s first roller coaster is set to open in 2021, and it’s a journey through the galaxy with Peter Quill and the rest of the Guardians. The coaster has multidirectional ride vehicles that can be positioned to face the action no matter where or what it is. It’ll be an exciting addition to the Disney Parks line up.

Cherry Tree Lane

The World Showcase is getting on more addition in 2021. A whole new Mary Poppins ride will be coming to the UK Pavilion. Get ready for a visit to Cherry Tree Lane to open up in the next year!

Tron Lightcycle Power Run

The long anticipated Tron Lightcycle Power Run will open in the Magic kingdom in 2021! The ride is a mirror of the coaster that opened up in Shanghai Disney in 2016 and will be located in the space behind Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Speedway. This will be the fifth coaster in the Magic Kingdom and the 8thin Walt Disney World at the time of its opening.
