Its almost September in Orlando and fall is officially on its way! Join us as we cover our top 5 reasons why you should visit Orlando in September.

#5 Fall Décor, Snacks, and Parties

Fall is a fun time in Orlando, between Disney’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights there’s plenty of spooky fall fun to be had. And for those who love the season, but not necessarily all things spooky, there are special snacks, limited time events and autumnal decorations at nearly every attraction and venue in the area! And yes, there is plenty of Pumpkin Spice to be had.

#4 Food and Wine

One of the biggest fall events taking place in Orlando in September is the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. This yearly event brings in culinary adventures from even more locations around the world. Add in special event concerts and celebrity chef interactions, and it’s easy to see why this is a fan favorite!

#3 Better Temperatures and (mostly) better weather

For someone who typically traveled in July and August, the slightly cooler, and less rainy, weather that September brings is lovely. It’s still relatively humid, and you’ll want to make use of the AC in the parks and attractions. But you’ll be much less likely to get rained out as you travel around the area. That said, it is the middle of Hurricane season. While Orlando doesn’t typically have as many hurricane-related closings as other parts of Florida, it is still wise to check the weather forecasts before you travel! This is also a good reason to purchase travel insurance for trips booked more than a few weeks in advance! (You can read more about the benefits of Travel Insurance in our blog post on that topic).

While the Orlando parks and attractions are always busy, there are times in the year when the crowds are higher, and times when you may find yourself walking onto attractions you’d usually wait up to an hour for. During the month of September, the Orlando crowd calculator at UndercoverTourist.com posts an average daily crowd score of 4/10. Keep in mind that 10/10 is the most crowded you can get. Those are the ‘black’ days on most lists, the days when the parks may reach capacity and close the gates early.

The reasons for the low September score are mostly due to the start of a new school year and the end of the summer vacation period for most folks. With that in mind though, you will find weekends more crowded than weekdays. This is because the local kids visit the parks on the weekends. So if you can manage to book a trip in September, you may find yourself getting way more out of your trip than you would at a more ‘typical’ vacation time!

#1 Better Travel Deals

Since the crowds are lower during the month of September, most travel companies switch to ‘Low Season’ rates. Some even offer special discounts for travel booked during this time. So not only are you likely to do more in less time, you’ll also be able to do more for less money. That’s a powerful vacation combination right there.

So those are our top 5 reasons for visiting Orlando in September. What is your favorite time of the year to visit? We’d love to hear from you!
