It’s time to celebrate everything Dad means to you. And if Father’s Day happens to fall during a trip to Orlando, don’t worry! There are plenty of ways to let Dad know how much he means to you in the Orlando area!

A Father’s Day Golf Getaway

A Father's Day Golf Getaway

Orlando is a Golfers dream destination. With dozens of courses to choose from Dad will be spoiled for choices. Some of our favorites include the trio of pro-designed courses at the Reunion Resort, including the Tom Watson course, the Arnold Palmer course and the Jack Nicklaus course. Championsgate has a pro level golf course and a golf school attached if Dad wants to improve his game. And there is a course at the Disney Resort that is worth visiting as well.

As for clubs, you have a few options. First, if you are flying you can check your golf bag in at the baggage counter. Keep in mind that they are considered an oversized bag, and each airline deals with clubs differently. Check with your flight carrier before you show up at the airport. Another option is to rent clubs and have them delivered to your home away from home. There are national options such as ClubHub.com, or you can go with a more local club rental option. And if you’re driving to Florida, you can just back your clubs in your trunk and off you go!

Mini Golfgiphy mini golf

Let’s say your Dad loves golf, but he doesn’t really want to play around in the Florida heat, then an afternoon on the putt-putt green may be in store! Orlando has plenty of Mini Golf courses waiting for your family to enjoy. If you’re at Universal Orlando you can head over to CityWalk and play a round on the Hollywood Drive in Mini Golf Course. There are two sides to the course, the Haunting of Ghostly Greens is a mildly horror-story inspired putting green. There are holes based on a graveyard, Dracula’s tomb and more. It’s complete with silly puns, scary noises, and rock versions of ghostly songs. The other side of the

Disney has two separate MiniGolf courses on property. One is Fantasia Mini Golf and the other is Winter Summer Land. Fantasia Mini Golf is full of motion-triggered music and scenes from the Film. Be careful, you might trigger a villain or two. And be aware that you may get very wet on one or two of the courses. The WinterSummerland course is right next to Blizzard Beach. There are two courses, one winter themed and one summer themed. The idea is that Santa has created a vacation destination for his Elves in Orlando. No matter what you pick, you’re sure to have an afternoon full of laughs.

Fishing Excursions at Walt Disney World

If your dad is a sportsman, then you’re in luck because Orlando has got you covered. With the Florida coast only one hour away, you can book a deep sea fishing excursion off of both the Atlantic and Gulf sides of Florida! Or if you want to stay close to ‘home’ you can find lake fishing in various spots in Orlando. Walt Disney World has over a dozen options for Bass fishing excursions at the various hotel marinas. You can get a boat out on Bay Lake, the Seven Seas Lagoon and more. Excursions last for 2 hours and you can bring up to 5 guests at a time.

Have A Trail Ride and Back Yard BBQ

What a lot of people don’t know is that you don’t have to be staying at the Disney resort to take advantage of the events and restaurants they offer at the Hotels. So even if you’re staying off property, take the time to go to the Fort Wilderness Campground. There you can take a 45-minute horseback ride through the woods. For those who’ve never ridden, there are carriage rides and wagon rides as well. Then you can head to the Hoop-di-do review for a fun-filled meal afterward.

Canoes and Kayaks

You can also find Kayaks and Canoes to rent at Fort Wilderness as well. No reservations are required and boats are offered on a first come first serve basis. You can rent both types of boats by the hour and take a leisurely tour of the lake near the campground and Lodge.kayaks

Bike Rides around Disney

This is another option you can find at many of the resorts. You and Dad can rent bicycles at any of the resorts for $18 a person. You can also rent 2, 4 and 6 person bikes for the whole family! Some of the best trails include the Ft. Wilderness area, Coronado Springs and the paths around the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resort areas.

A Father’s Day at the Parks

Of course, when you’re in Orlando, what better way to spend the day than at one of the many parks. So pick Dad’s favorite park and spend the day together!
