Why
would I stay in a vacation rental during my next trip to
Orlando?
Many
guests choose to stay in a vacation rental for a combination
of reasons — value, location, privacy, amenities and
overall comfort and convenience. In a vacation rental, travelers
are able to reserve a fully furnished home with multiple
bedrooms and bathrooms underneath one roof, rather than
reserving multiple hotel rooms. Visitors enjoy their own
private, screened-in pools, as well as a full kitchen in-home,
and often in-home game rooms, billiard tables, home movie
theaters, and more. Most vacation rentals are also located
within minutes of major Orlando attractions.
What
is there to do in a vacation home?
There are amenities available in-home to fit every
travelers’ recreational lifestyle. Orlando
Vacation rental visitors boast access to their own private
pools, spas, and patios, as well as multiple televisions,
barbeque grills, DVD players, and often wireless internet
access, stand-up arcade games, billiard and air hockey tables,
PlayStation® and Xbox game systems.
What
types of homes are available to travelers?
Property managers offer fully furnished vacation
rentals to travelers and their families nearby to all of
Orlando’s major attractions, including private pool
homes, condos, and two-story town homes. Orlando
Vacation rentals are available from two to seven bedrooms
(1,050 – 4,000 square feet.) and up to six bathrooms,
all under one roof. Many vacation rentals also come equipped
with extra amenities for private recreation in-home, including
game rooms, billiard tables, and/or home movie theatres
with cinema-style seating.
Are
the homes individually owned?
Nearly all vacation rental homes available in the
Orlando area are privately owned. Many rental homes are
overseen by property management companies, who manage the
home rental, maintenance and administration process for
individual homeowners and, in some instances, assist in
the purchase and sale of homes.
How do I find the right vacation home for me?
A
variety of industry associations have made it easy for travelers
to find their ideal vacation rental among the more than
25,000 currently available in the Orlando area. Guests can
visit each of these websites personally, and can often virtually
tour a variety of homes and available amenities, then book
conveniently and securely online or by phone.
Travelers
can be assured that members of the above associations have
made a commitment to uphold each organization’s code
of ethics and business practices. This ensures guests are
provided a quality lodging experience. Travelers are also
encouraged to look for third-party endorsements on the websites
of rental management companies, including approval from
AAA, as well as membership in industry associations and
the Better Business Bureau.
How
do I make a reservation? Is it secure?
Booking
a vacation rental is a convenient and secure process as
many vacation rental companies offer both secure phone and
Internet reservations systems. Guests can often view photos
and amenities of individual homes prior to booking, making
it easier for travelers to find a home to fit their specific
needs.
Do
visitors have to stay for long periods of time?
Some
vacation rental management companies require a minimum stay
for reservations. Guests can contact the management company’s
customer service team or website for further information
and to confirm.
What
is the difference between renting from a management company
and renting directly from a homeowner?
When
renting from a management company, guests enjoy additional
benefits and services that are not typically offered by
single homeowners, including a 24-hour customer service
contact, concierge services, housekeeping, partnerships
with local vendors, and sometimes the ability to search
and reserve a home securely online. If a vacation home is
not managed, the individual homeowner is responsible for
the property’s maintenance, upkeep, and the customer
service offered to renters, often as an absentee owner from
other states or even countries abroad. Management companies
handle all of this for individual homeowners, ensuring consistency
and quality in both customer service and the level of accommodations.
If
I have questions during my stay, do I have someone I can
call for assistance?
Many
area management companies offer an emergency contact that
guests can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for questions,
maintenance issues, and more. Be sure to inquire about any
guest services phone numbers or contacts upon check-in to
your home.
When
renting a vacation home, will I receive concierge services,
like room service, spa treatments, etc.?
Guests
experience all the benefits of a traditional hotel stay
with many additional amenities, including a concierge, as
well as options for in-home massages, spa treatments, a
personal chef to cook meals, pre-arrival grocery delivery
services, child care, and more. Most vacation rental management
companies also boast partnerships with local vendors to
offer guests discounts on tickets to Orlando attractions,
golf courses, as well as special rates on car and equipment
rentals, to name a few.
Is
a daily housekeeping service available?
While
each vacation rental is thoroughly cleaned and prepared
for guests’ arrivals, management companies often offer
mid-stay housekeeping services, upon request, for an additional
fee. It is recommended that visitors inquire directly with
their vacation home’s reservations team for further
information.
Economically, how does a vacation rental compare to a hotel
stay?
Vacation rentals often provide huge cost savings
by allowing guests to make just one reservation, rather
than multiple, for a group or family. Rates for some three-bedroom
Orlando vacation homes start at
just $120 per night, but sleep up to eight travelers versus
just one or two. Having a fully equipped kitchen in-home
also offers great value to travelers who want to save on
the costs associated with dining out for every meal.
What
if I need wheelchair accessibility?
Many
Central Florida vacation rental companies offer wheelchair-accessible
accommodations that are approved by the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA). Please inquire with individual companies prior
to your reservation for additional information, accessibility
details, recommendations, and specific property amenities.
May I bring my pets?
A
variety of homes managed by Central Florida vacation rental
managers are pet-friendly, and some even offer welcome packages
for guests’ favorite four-legged friends. Pet deposits
and breed restrictions may apply.
What
if I want to stock my vacation home rental with food and
snacks?
There
are a variety of supermarkets nearby to each vacation rental
community for guests who wish to have their favorite snacks
and meals on-hand and in-home. Many companies also offer
guests the ability to pre-order groceries online to be delivered
prior to their arrival.
How do I check-in to my vacation rental once I’ve
arrived in Orlando? Is there a designated check-in and check
out time?
Some
rental companies offer a central office nearby to their
vacation rentals for convenient check in, pickup of guests’
keys, information about the area, and more. Others offer
pre-arrival check-in, providing information electronically
prior to guests’ arrival, including directions to/from
the airport and local highways, maps of the area, a key-code
for entry to the home, Orlando vacation ideas, and more.
And
yes, consistent with most Orlando area hotels and resorts,
vacation rental companies do designate a specific check-in
and checkout time. Early or late arrivals and departures
may also be requested.
Will
I have Internet access and cable television?
Vacation
rentals are furnished with cable television, DVD players
and multiple TV sets, and many are equipped with free wireless
Internet access. Several local companies additionally offer
complimentary usage of computers and connection to the Internet
at central guest office locations.
How
can I get to and from the theme parks and the airport?
If
driving to the Orlando area, each vacation rental management
company can provide convenient directions to and from the
attractions, airport, nearby services, shopping, beaches,
and more. For those arriving by air, many member companies
have established partnerships with local vendors to offer
discounted car rental rates. Information may appear on member
Web sites, and for additional information and rates, guests
can contact association members directly.
Are
vacation homes rated for their quality and services?
AAA
has historically rated many Orlando area vacation rentals
based on their level of lodging excellence, as well as the
features and amenities offered. The highest AAA Rating that
a vacation rental can achieve is three coveted Diamonds.
Other sports associations and tourism groups have also offered
their stamp of approval for various companies, which can
be found on each of their respective Web sites.
Vacation
rental companies themselves also designate specific levels
of accommodations, the highest usually including homes with
up to seven bedrooms and valuable added features like home
movie theaters, arcade rooms, designer furnishings, and
more.
